Did you know that between 40 to 70 % of your energy costs are refrigeration if you own a convenience or grocery store? There's a lot of data out there available on the internet. Feel free to look it up. If you spent $200 and you had a return on investment of 3 months, you stand to "make" $67/month after that. The best investment with the quickest returns are the following:
1. Strip Curtains on Walk-In Doors
They reduce "loss of cold air by 65%"
2. Door Sweeps Properly Installed on Walk-In Doors
A Door sweep on a 3' wide cooler door 1/4" off the floor can cost you $82/mo @ $ .13/KWH
3. Auto Door Closer on Walk-In Doors
A cooler door left open cost will cost you almost 6 cents a minute @ $.13/KWH ($.30/5 min)
4.LED Lights on Reach-In Doors & inside Freezers & Cool
Fluorescent Lights generate heat as well and using up to 70% more electricity
Having served major Grocery chains doing energy audits for over 20 years, we have the knowledge and experience helping reduce their energy cost by well over 40%. Let us help you...
LED Lighting has come a long way in the last 10 years. It has become affordable for the "little guys" now and you will save money month after month for the small investment it takes. Most LED will last between 5 and 7 years when constantly on and up to 25 with periodic use. There are also motion sensors for Walk-Ins, Reach-In cooler & freezer lighting as well as any room or area that does not need to lit when not in use.
There is also lighting that can take the place of the old HID lighting, both interior & exterior, that are just as effective, will last you twice as long as what you have now and can save you a tremendous amount of money every month...
I don't want to glaze your eyes over with technical stuff but there is a way to figure out how much you are spending on "wasted energy".
